our story LUNA was created with the idea of bringing a new, modern Mexican experience to the Murrells Inlet area (Lowcountry). We bring the flavors of Mexico together by featuring region specific flavors in our incomparable menu. Dishes such as our Mole Poblano, originated from the State of Puebla; Carnitas Michoacanas reflect the State of Michoacan; and Mole Verde from Oaxaca. Each containing our Chef Armando’s own personal touch. Chef Aramando uses only the freshest, local ingredients in his authentic and original recipes. This ingenuity carries over into our extensive selection of handmade margaritas and cocktails.

Meet Our CHEF Executive Chef Armando Cobian

Chef Armando was born in a small village (Las Adjuntas) in the State of Jalisco, Mexico; also well known as The Land of Tequila.

 

At an early age his passion for cooking began by watching his mother cook simple, traditional meals.  These delicious meals were all created by locally grown ingredients.

 

When Chef Armando was 15 years old he came to the United States.  His first job was in the State of Oregon on a farm, packing potatoes.  Working to cultivate and harvest fine vegetables inspired his passion for cooking more and more.

 

After visiting family in Chicago, and falling in love with all the great restaurants, Chef Armando decided the City was to be his next home.

At the age of 19 years old, Chef Armando, started his cooking career at some of the great restaurants in the Chicagoland area.  While in Chicago he continued to grow his passion and experience in cooking working at Michael Jordan’s Restaurant, The Cheesecake Factory, The  Green Dolphin, Nacional 27, Chilipancingo Mexican Restaurant, and J&L Catering.

 

In 1997, he took his passion for cooking further and attended Washburne Culinary Institute.

Combining Chef Armando’s culinary education with his passion and love for the food of his native Mexico he has been inspired to create the dishes that he now presents at LUNA Mexican Bar & Grill “Mexican Del Corazon”.

 

All guests can travel to Mexico by closing their eyes and tasting his extraordinary creations!
